Well yes. The quote was from Bob Marley. But nobody should care from whom the words made their ways to people's ears, only the message matters. He couldn't be more accurate. When I saw someone sharing or liking or RTing others' thoughts on the social networks, I couldn't help but to think that they were directing the thoughts towards certain someones. However, tables can be turned, as they saw some thoughts that could relate to their misbehaves, they turned their faces away, because they were "terasa" by the direct-to-your-guilty-heart sentences.
For instance, A despises it that B always buy too many foods at the bazaar, and when A saw a random tweet about "jangan membazir", he RTed it, hoping that B will see it and become "terasa" with the tweet. After he successfully RTed the "jangan membazir" tweet, A, full of himself, happened to see another "kesedaran" tweet, about "jangan mengumpat." A, being a gossip king, and "terasa" with the tweet, couldn't care less to RT the tweet, because he knew that he was guilty of the crime.
Or how about C, who owns a blog, always sharing his thoughts on how flawed the society nowadays is. He was always careful to choose the topics though, he won't mention about "kepentingan menjaga aurat", because his girlfriend is one hell of a daredevil when it comes to fashion, spaghetti straps, haltered neck, minis? You name it. And he loved her dressing that way. He's proud marching around the town parading his "craft-from-God" sweetheart.
And then there's me, talking about A, B and C in my blog. I don't even know who A, B and C were. Maybe they existed, maybe not. Of course I don't even know what their life stories were. What caused them to behave the way they did? Would I really care enough to find out and try to fix the situation instead of shying away and just telling their tales in my own, secluded blog? And most importantly; will I ever stop making my own conclusions in my mind regarding their antics on the social networks? I am not entirely sure of the answers.
Too quick to judge others. I hope we are not too late to judge our own tiny, sinned selves. If only the mirror can not only reflect our physical appearances, but could also reflect our sinful behaviors. Astaghfirullah al'adzim.
Journey to becoming a better muslim and mukmin, bumpy roads, yet worthiest of taking. InsyaAllah.
